4 - Day INTERNATIONAL (ONLINE) CONFERENCE on
ERADICATION OF BIOLOGICAL & CHEMICAL WEAPONS
23rd , 24th, 25th & 26th June 2020
Failure to Act Is an Act of Failure
There is a pressing need to create a global voice of all nations that works towards Human safety and focusses on achieving SDGs. The global pandemic of COVID-19 has impacted almost all major nations of the world and continues to envelop and threaten nearly all countries including the rich and medically advanced. During the pandemic, there are many questions raised about the very nature of its origin, it has raised suspicion on the nature of the disease, a sabotage or an act of biological warfare.
The BWC and OPCW are bodies that are tasked with getting rid of weapons of mass destruction from the world. Unfortunately, none of these bodies have the final authority to execute any decisions. Most of their suggestions are often side-lined or overlooked. Individual member States can decide on their own approach to the conventions. The conference tries to bring countries together to evolve a mechanism to end the threat of bio warfare by establishing- a legal discourse towards curbing research and development of bio-weapons and curb occurrences of bio-chem warfare, by strengthening institutions of global importance, by documenting views and recommendations of scholars for public interest and policy making, and by enhancing international cooperation and adequate representation of all nations for ensuring safe & sustainable future.
